Early Light

Collectors will remember first light. Early AM. Nothing is awake yet. The birds have not started to sing. The sky is just getting some new blue and cerulean blue and emerging out of the violet grayness.  This is the wonderful feeling or beginning of another new and exciting day that will be filled with endless possibilities. That’s how I felt after finishing this painting. It was a renewal and new beginning. This is a framed painting with pine wood and matte finish frame.

My Inspiration was Fitz Henry Lane American master of illumination and the old Dutch Masters

Collectors that have visited the Northern Ireland Giant Causeway Cliffs will remember this area through my artwork. My artwork is a reflection the Northern Ireland and the Giant Causeway Cliffs.  This oil painting was inspired from a visit to Ireland to the Giant Causeway. The Giant Causeway cliffs were formed from basal columns as a result of a giant volcanic eruption. This is a scene of an early morning light in County Antrim when a few rays of the sun help you discover as it streams through the white blanket of clouds.  The pillars from the Giants bring back memories of fables past about magic and magical creatures.

  • The beautiful light of a clear blue sky has a color scheme of cool blues and Indian reds. Cool blues include Cerulean blue, Cobalt blue, Phthalo blue and Prussian blue.
  • Greens, as the emerald hills of Ireland, include Emerald Green, Viridian and Phthalo Green. Alizarin Crimson and French Ultramarine blue were utilized to show receding mountains and the early morning shadows.
  • Early light is a representation of the beauty of the Northern Irish coast at dawn. After finishing this painting I feel happy.
